SQL table rendered via SharePoint
Kurt Delbene, VP of the Microsoft Office Business Platform Group, gave a keynote yesterday at the Office Developer Conference (“ODC”) 2008 and said something I thought was interesting. He said that the next version of SharePoint will allow developers to display straight SQL tables directly in SharePoint.
The simple list types will not go away but will simply serve as another means to display information from SQL into SharePoint.
He said that SQL 2008 that is shipping in February already has the architecture built in to support this.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out when SharePoint 12 arrives.
